Build Your Own Instagram Wrapped
Every number animated, your real post covers floating in the background, built with one free tool and one prompt. No editor, no designer, no code. The prompt even reads your stats straight off your own Instagram dashboard, so you never type a number in by hand.
No email required. Use it today.
Instagram hands you a boring gray screen of stats. This is the exact system for turning 100 days of posting into a Spotify-Wrapped-style video: every number animated, your real post covers floating in the background, built in one prompt with a free tool. No editor, no designer, no code. About 30 minutes to build, 1 prompt, $0.
What You'll Learn
- The exact prompt that builds the whole video for you
- The free tool that renders it, set up in one command
- The 10-card structure that builds to a climax
- The Instagram-native look: gradient acts, story-ring covers, Stories bar
- Export visuals-only, add trending audio in-app, post
The Fast Way: One Prompt, One Free Tool
The whole thing runs through Hyperframes, a free tool that turns a single HTML file into a rendered video. Set it up once, paste the prompt below, and Claude reads your Instagram numbers straight off your own dashboard and builds the entire Wrapped for you.
Set up Hyperframes (free). It renders your video from one file. You just need Node, FFmpeg, and Chrome installed. Run this command in Claude Code and you're ready:
npx skills add heygen-com/hyperframes
More at hyperframes.heygen.com.
How It Works
- Install Hyperframes. Drop it into Claude Code with the command above. One-time setup.
- Connect Claude for Chrome. Install the free Claude for Chrome extension and log into Instagram in that browser. Now Claude can read your own Professional dashboard for you.
- Paste the one prompt. Claude pulls your numbers off your dashboard, writes the whole composition, and renders the MP4. No typing stats in by hand. Review the draft, then approve the final.
- Add audio in the app. Export it visuals-only, then add trending audio on upload for the best reach.
Honest heads up: Instagram's dashboard only goes back about 90 days, so Claude pulls everything in that window automatically. For anything older (like your very first follower count) just tell Claude the real number and it uses it. Want exact lifetime totals? There's an optional one-time data connection later in this guide.
What It Grabs For You
Claude pulls these off your dashboard: total posts, total views, reach, minutes watched, saves, comments, shares, likes, followers start to now, average views per post, profile visits, and your #1 post + its cover.
The Build Prompt
Paste this into Claude Code:
You are my data analyst and motion-graphics engineer. Pull my Instagram numbers from the last ~100 days and turn them into a Spotify-Wrapped-style recap video with Hyperframes (one self-contained HTML file + GSAP, rendered to MP4, 1080x1920, ~40s). Two phases. Don't ask me for a number you can read.
PHASE 1 - GET MY NUMBERS (use the Claude for Chrome extension)
I'm logged into Instagram in Chrome. With the extension:
- Open my profile, then Professional dashboard / Insights
- Set the range to the last 90 days; tell me the exact dates.
- Read: views, reach, followers now + gained, profile visits, likes, comments, shares, saves, and minutes watched if shown.
- Count the reels and posts I published in the range.
- Sort reels by views; grab my #1 reel (title + views + cover screenshot) and 4-8 more top covers for the background.
- Show me a table of everything before building. Ask me only for what's truly missing. Never invent a stat.
PHASE 2 - BUILD IT (Hyperframes)
~10 full-screen stat cards (~4s each) that count up with a scale-punch, building to a climax: title, total posts, the headline number, reach, 3 supporting metrics, engagement (saves/comments/shares), my #1 post (show its cover), follower growth + the multiplier, a "YOU ARE: THE ___" archetype from my data, sign-off. One witty line each.
DESIGN (native Instagram): every section a different full-bleed background (IG gradient, purple, white, blue, black), text + accent flipped for contrast. Bold condensed font (Anton) for numbers, captured locally. Stories progress bar up top, a profile chip with my avatar + handle + verified badge, and the Reels action-rail on the #1-post card. Float my real covers with story-ring gradient borders behind the text. Grain + vignette + a glow on the hero numbers.
OUTPUT: lint, render at standard quality, keep it visuals-only so I can add trending audio in the app. Draft first, then the final.
Optional, For Power Users: Want More Than 90 Days?
The Chrome method above grabs everything Instagram shows you in the app, which is all most people need. If you want longer history or exact lifetime totals pulled in automatically, you can connect Instagram's official data tool one time. You never write any code. You generate a token, paste it into the prompt, and Claude does the rest.
- Switch to a Creator or Business account. In Instagram, open Settings, then Account type, and make sure you're on Creator or Business, linked to a Facebook Page. (Free, takes a minute.)
- Create a free app. Go to developers.facebook.com, log in with that same Facebook account, and create a new app. Choose the Business type when it asks.
- Add the Instagram product. Inside your new app, find the product list and add Instagram. That switches on the data Claude needs to read.
- Generate a token. Open the Graph API Explorer, pick your app, and generate a token with these four permissions: instagram_basic, instagram_manage_insights, pages_read_engagement, pages_show_list. Copy it.
- Paste it into the prompt. Add the one line below to the very top of the build prompt and Claude pulls the deeper data for you automatically.
Also pull my data using this Instagram token: PASTE_TOKEN_HERE. Use it to fill in anything the Chrome method could not get (longer history, exact lifetime totals). If the token errors, just fall back to the Chrome numbers.
No token? Skip this whole section. The Chrome method already builds the full video on its own.
What Makes It Look Native: The 5 Design Moves
- Five full-bleed backgrounds. Each section is a different canvas (Instagram gradient, purple, white, blue, black) so it feels like flipping cards, not one static slide.
- Real post covers, floating. Your actual reels drift in the background with Instagram story-ring gradient borders, always behind the text so it stays readable.
- Count-ups with a punch. Every number counts up and pops the instant it lands. That motion is what makes a stat feel alive instead of flat.
- Instagram UI chrome. A Stories progress bar up top, a verified profile chip on the intro, and the Reels action-rail on your #1 post sell the "native feature" feel.
- One witty line per stat. The Spotify-Wrapped touch. A short quip under each number is what makes people screenshot and share it.
Build to a climax. Save your most jaw-dropping number (usually total views or follower growth) for late in the video, right before the archetype reveal.
Export visuals-only and add trending audio in the app.
