Claude Just Killed Dashboards With Live Artifacts

TL;DR: Claude’s new Live Artifacts feature lets you chat a live dashboard into existence in the Claude desktop app, connect it to Gmail, Stripe, Notion, Shopify, and any MCP tool, and refresh the data on demand. Build it once. Use it forever. This replaces the entire workflow of building one-off dashboards in Claude Code and burning sessions every time you need a refresh.

Stop Burning Claude Code Sessions On Dashboards

If you have been using Claude Code to build personal dashboards, you know the pain. Every session starts from scratch. Every rebuild burns tokens. Every new data source means another round of setup. A week later you open the dashboard and it has stale data because the scraper broke.

Anthropic just shipped the fix.

Live Artifacts is a new feature in the Claude desktop app. It lets you build dashboards that connect directly to your apps through MCP, refresh live data on demand, and live inside Claude instead of inside a one-off Claude Code project you have to maintain.

You build the dashboard once. You use it forever.

What Live Artifacts Actually Is

Open the Claude desktop app. Click the Work tab in the left sidebar. Inside Work, click Live Artifacts. You land on a blank canvas that functions like an artifact you can refresh with live data on demand.

The difference from regular artifacts is that Live Artifacts can call connectors and MCP tools. Gmail. Stripe. Notion. Shopify. Google Analytics. Any MCP server you have installed. When you chat a dashboard into existence, Claude pulls real data through those connectors, builds the dashboard around it, and lets you refresh any time.

Opus 4.7 is the default model. It handles the build and the data-fetching pass in one flow.

Step-by-Step Setup

Here is the exact flow.

Step 1: Update your Claude desktop app. Live Artifacts requires the April 2026 update or later. Check the app store if you are behind.

Step 2: Open the Work panel. Click Work in the left sidebar. This is where Live Artifacts lives. If you do not see Work, you are not on a Pro or Team plan.

Step 3: Click Live Artifacts. Inside Work, click the Live Artifacts option. You get a blank canvas.

Step 4: Enable your connectors. Click the connector icon and toggle on every MCP server you want data from. Gmail, Stripe, Notion, Shopify, Google Analytics, and any custom MCP. This is the one step most people skip and then wonder why Claude cannot pull data.

Step 5: Chat the dashboard. Type what you want. “Build me a revenue dashboard from Stripe and Shopify with this week’s top 10 customers.” Opus 4.7 builds it. Watch the data pull live.

10 Dashboards To Build First

Start with the ones that replace something you already check daily.

  1. Daily revenue tracker. Revenue today vs yesterday, WoW delta, top 5 products. Pulls from Stripe and Shopify.
  2. Unread inbox triage. Unread count, senders you haven’t replied to in 48 hours, flagged threads. Pulls from Gmail.
  3. Content pipeline. Items in each status, overdue items, next 5 scheduled to post. Pulls from your Notion content database.
  4. Customer health. MRR by customer, trials ending this week, failed payments, recent cancellations. Pulls from Stripe.
  5. Project status. Open items per owner, blocked tasks, anything past due. Pulls from Notion Tasks.
  6. Social media pulse. Latest posts from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube with views, likes, comments. Flags outliers.
  7. Ad spend tracker. Today’s spend, CAC, ROAS per platform. Flags any campaign under 2x ROAS.
  8. Support queue. Open tickets by age, tickets waiting on you, tickets closed this week.
  9. Weekly exec summary. Revenue, traffic, signups, churn, top 3 wins this week. Pulls from Stripe, Shopify, GA, Notion.
  10. Personal CEO dashboard. Today’s calendar, top 3 priorities, revenue today, unread Slack DMs, one metric you care about.

How To Refresh Without Rebuilding

Open any dashboard you built. Click the refresh icon in the top right. Claude re-queries every connector and updates the data in place. No rebuild. No prompt. The structure stays exactly as you built it. Only the data changes.

You can refresh manually or tell Claude to auto-refresh every X minutes in the chat panel.

The Cost Reality

Live Artifacts uses Opus 4.7 by default. The initial build burns a meaningful chunk of your session usage. One early user reported 40% of their session on two dashboards.

The upside is you only pay that cost once. Every refresh after uses a fraction of the tokens because Claude does not rebuild, it only re-queries.

Build the dashboards you will use every day. Skip the ones you will use once.

Sharing With Your Team

Every dashboard can be shared as a read-only link on a Team plan. Viewers can refresh the data, but they cannot change the structure unless you give them edit access. This is how you replace most of your Google Sheets and Notion dashboards at once.

Who This Is For

Operators who have been building one-off dashboards in Claude Code and watching sessions disappear. Founders who want a single view of revenue, customers, and pipeline without copying data between tabs. Anyone on a Claude Pro or Team plan who wants dashboards that stay current on their own.

FAQ

Do I need to be a developer? No. If you can chat, you can build a Live Artifact dashboard. The MCP connectors handle the data side.

Can I use this on free Claude? Not yet. Live Artifacts is gated to Pro and Team plans at launch.

Which connectors ship by default? Gmail, Notion, Stripe, Shopify, Google Analytics, Google Drive, and a handful more. Custom MCP servers work too.

What happens if an MCP disconnects? The dashboard shows the last successful pull. Reconnect the MCP and refresh to pull the latest.

Is the data stored by Anthropic? Data is fetched on refresh and rendered in the artifact. Storage policy follows your Anthropic plan’s data rules.

The Bottom Line

Claude just killed the workflow where non-technical people burn Claude Code sessions building one-off dashboards. Live Artifacts does it once in the desktop app, keeps the data connected, and refreshes live. Build the Personal CEO Dashboard this week. You will replace 3 tools doing it.
