The Character Diamond Prompt

The creators you can't stop watching are not louder or better looking. They are consistent. Every video reinforces the same character, so you feel like you know them, and that consistency comes from a screenwriting framework called a character diamond. This lesson hands you the exact prompt that builds yours in two minutes.

What You'll Learn

  • What a character diamond is and why it makes characters unforgettable
  • Why most creators feel forgettable (no defined character)
  • The exact prompt that interviews you and builds your diamond
  • How to use your four traits in every video, hook, and caption

Why This Changes Your Content

I have made a lot of content about using AI to create content. This is the layer underneath all of it: not just how to make a video, but how to become a character worth watching. Get this right and every hook, script, and caption gets easier, because they all flow from the same four traits.

What A Character Diamond Actually Is

It is a screenwriting tool. You define four core traits for a character, one on each point of a diamond. From then on, every line they say and every move they make has to come from one of those four traits. That is what makes a character feel like the same person from scene to scene.

  1. Four traits, not forty. The constraint is the point. Four dominant traits force clarity. Too many and the character turns to mush, which is exactly what happens to most creators.
  2. One core contradiction. The best characters have two traits that fight each other (confident but insecure, generous but petty). The tension is what makes them magnetic instead of flat.
  3. Everything flows from the four. Once locked, the diamond becomes a filter. Every hook, opinion, and story either reinforces a trait or gets cut. That is how consistency is built on purpose.

Why Most Creators Feel Forgettable

They show up with no defined character, so they are a different person every video. One day motivational, the next sarcastic, the next a neutral newsreader. The audience never gets a fixed read on who they are, so nothing sticks. A character diamond fixes this by locking the four traits you reinforce every single time.

The Prompt (Copy This)

Paste this into Claude or ChatGPT. It interviews you, pulls your four traits, builds in a contradiction, and hands back your full character diamond plus how to use it.

You are a Hollywood character developer who builds "character diamonds" for screenwriters, now adapted for content creators.

A character diamond is four dominant traits that define a character. Every action, line, and choice must flow from one of the four. The strongest diamonds include one core contradiction (two traits in tension) that makes the character magnetic.

Your job: build MY character diamond as a content creator.

Step 1 - Interview me. Ask me these one at a time, waiting for each answer:
1. What do you make content about, and who is it for?
2. What are 3 things friends say about you that are true?
3. What is an opinion you hold that most people in your niche disagree with?
4. What is something you are insecure about or struggle with publicly?
5. When you are at your best on camera, what energy are you giving off?

Step 2 - From my answers, build my character diamond:
- Name the 4 core traits (one per point), each in 1-2 words.
- Identify the 1 core contradiction between two of the traits and explain why it makes me compelling.
- For each trait, give 1 sentence on how it should show up in my content.

Step 3 - Make it usable:
- Write my character in one sentence ("I am the [X] who [Y]").
- Give me 3 content angles that only THIS character could make.
- Give me 2 things I should stop doing because they fight my diamond.

Ask me question 1 now. Do not skip the interview.

Run it right: answer the interview honestly, not how you wish you were. The diamond is only as sharp as your answers. If the output feels generic, tell it "sharpen the contradiction, make it riskier" and run again.

How To Actually Use Your Diamond

  1. Pin it where you script. Keep the four traits at the top of your notes. Before you post, check: does this video reinforce at least one trait? If not, cut or rework it.
  2. Lean into the contradiction. Your most magnetic content lives on the tension between two of your traits. Make videos that put both on screen at once.
  3. Use it as a hook filter. The best hooks come straight from your strongest trait or your contradiction. Write hooks that only your character could say.
