3 Step Setup

What you need:

• Claude Code installed (free to install, run: brew install claude-code)
• Claude Pro ($20/mo) or Max ($100 to $200/mo) subscription
• Claude mobile app (iOS or Android), or any web browser

Step 1: start Remote Control. Open your terminal and run:

claude remote-control

A QR code and session URL appear instantly. Your AI agent is now ready to accept commands from any device.

Step 2: connect your phone. Three ways to connect:

1. Scan the QR code. Press spacebar to show it in the terminal. Opens directly in the Claude app on your phone.
2. Open the session URL. Copy it from the terminal and open in any browser on any device.
3. Find it in the app. Open the Claude app. Active sessions show a green dot.

Step 3: give it tasks. Type what you want done from your phone. Your AI agent executes everything on your computer in real time. You can watch it work, approve actions, and steer it, all from your pocket.

Real World Use Cases

• Run errands while your agent works. Start a big research task or file organization project at your desk. Leave the house. Check in from your phone, approve what it has done, and give it the next task, all while you are grocery shopping.
• Monitor long running tasks. Kick off a big project, head to a meeting. Your agent keeps working. Pull out your phone to check progress, approve decisions, and steer it without going back to your desk.

Important Gotchas

• Your computer needs to stay on (laptop sleep is fine, it reconnects automatically)
• Session URLs act like passwords. Do not share them
• One remote connection per session
• Set up your tools and integrations before going mobile. You cannot add new ones from your phone
• A roughly 10 minute network outage triggers a timeout. Just run the command again

Pro Tips

• Give detailed instructions before walking away. The clearer the task, the less you will need to correct from your phone
• Use /rename to label your sessions so they are easy to find across devices
• Enable Remote Control for all sessions: run /config and toggle it on. Every session becomes mobile automatically
• Think of it like a walkie talkie to your AI: check in, steer, approve, move on
