The exact ChatGPT prompt that turns a boring 6am selfie + your Strava route map + your pace stats into one cinematic Nike-commercial-style post. The AI uses your distance and pace to set the energy of the shot. Plus 5 style variants so your feed never looks like the same edit on repeat.

What You'll Learn

  • The base prompt that takes your photo + route + stats and turns them into one epic Strava post
  • Why feeding ChatGPT your stats matters: the AI weights the visual style by your distance and pace
  • 5 style variants: trail-magazine, marathon-finisher, ultra-endurance-grit, track-meet-pro, ad-campaign-glow
  • The 2 sentences that make the AI keep your face identical (no morphing into a stranger)
  • How to use it on bike rides, gym photos, and hike summit shots too

Why This Works

Every runner knows the rule. If it's not on Strava, it didn't happen. The problem is the photo. You finish a 10k, your face is red, your hair is wrecked, the lighting is some random parking lot at 6am. You post it anyway because the rule says you have to. This prompt fixes that. Same photo, completely different output. The AI preserves your face and outfit, then re-lights the entire scene like a sports photographer captured you mid-stride.

Why ChatGPT and not a filter app: filter apps add presets on top of the original photo. ChatGPT actually re-generates the image with new lighting, new background blur, new atmospheric haze. Your face stays the same. Everything around it gets cinematic. That is why the output looks like a professional shoot instead of a heavily-filtered selfie.

The Base Prompt

Open ChatGPT and attach THREE things from your run: a selfie or candid photo, a screenshot of your Strava route map, and a screenshot of your pace and distance stats. Then paste the prompt below. About 5 seconds later ChatGPT returns one composite cinematic image that weaves your photo and stats into a Nike-commercial-style post.

I'm giving you three images: a photo of me on my run, a screenshot of my Strava route map, and a screenshot of my pace and distance stats.

Combine all three into one epic editorial sports post.

Style: dramatic golden-hour lighting, cinematic composition, motion blur on the background to show speed, gritty film grain, Nike-commercial aesthetic, atmospheric haze. Use my distance and pace to set the energy of the shot. A slow zone-2 jog gets soft glow. An ultra-distance effort gets gritty endurance-doc aesthetic.

Weave the route map and key stats into the composition tastefully (small overlay or subtle background element, not pasted on top).

Keep my face, body, and outfit identical. Do not change my features.

Make it look like a professional sports photographer captured me mid-stride.

The face-preservation line is the most important. Without "Keep my face, body, and outfit identical. Do not change my features," ChatGPT will sometimes morph you into a different person. Always include those two sentences. They are the difference between a photo of YOU and a photo of someone who kinda looks like you.

Why feeding it your stats matters: most AI photo tools just re-light the image and call it a day. When you pass ChatGPT your distance and pace, it actually weights the visual aesthetic to match the run. A 5k recovery jog should not look like the final push of a 50-miler. By giving the AI the data, the output matches the effort. The same selfie taken after a zone 2 run vs after an ultra ends up looking like two completely different posts.

5 Style Variants

Same base prompt, swap the Style line for one of these 5. Use a different one each week so your feed does not look like the same edit on repeat.

Variant 1: Trail Magazine

Style: overcast natural light, wide-angle wilderness composition, motion blur on terrain, muted earth tones, Outside Magazine cover aesthetic, atmospheric mountain haze.

Variant 2: Marathon Finisher

Style: harsh midday sun, exhausted-glory composition, sweat and grit highlights, race-bib visible, crowd blur in background, finish-line ESPN aesthetic, golden tape banner haze.

Variant 3: Ultra Endurance Grit

Style: pre-dawn blue hour, headlamp glow, breath visible in cold air, gritty film grain, mud-streaked shoes, lone-runner-on-empty-road composition, Cocodona 250 documentary aesthetic.

Variant 4: Track Meet Pro

Style: stadium floodlights, athletic-track surface visible, motion blur on the lane lines behind me, lean muscular highlight, sprint-form composition, Olympic broadcast aesthetic, slight lens flare.

Variant 5: Ad Campaign Glow

Style: hyper-saturated golden hour, hero-shot composition, soft rim lighting on my silhouette, urban skyline blurred behind me, Nike print-campaign aesthetic, slight bloom effect, professional color grade.

Works On Everything Else Too

The same mechanic works for any photo you would otherwise post unedited. Swap "on my run" and the "mid-stride" line in the base prompt for whatever you are doing.

  • Bike rides: change to "mid-pedal stroke on a road bike" or "mid-descent on a mountain bike"
  • Gym photos: change to "mid-lift with a barbell" and add "Calvin Klein ad campaign aesthetic"
  • Hike summit shots: change to "standing on a mountain summit" and add "National Geographic aesthetic"
  • Yoga / pilates: change to "mid-pose in a studio" and add "Lululemon campaign aesthetic"
  • Group runs: keep the prompt but add "preserve every person's face identically" as the last line

Do not use this on race-official photos. If your race has hired photographers (London Marathon, Boston, etc.) and they tag you in the finish-line shots, do not re-render those and post them as your own. Use this for your candid post-run selfies and group photos only. Easy way to stay on the right side of it.

Posting Workflow

End-to-end is under 90 seconds from finishing your run to posting the upgraded shot.

  1. Finish run. Take a normal selfie or candid photo. Do not over-pose
  2. Open Strava (or your tracker). Screenshot your route map. Screenshot your pace + distance + elevation stats
  3. Open ChatGPT. Attach all three images: photo, route, stats. Paste the base prompt (or a variant)
  4. Wait 5-10 seconds. ChatGPT returns one composite cinematic image that weaves your selfie with your route and stats
  5. Save the result to your camera roll
  6. Post to Strava + Instagram + your story. Caption optional. The photo does the work

Why this beats posing: trying to pose for an "effortless" run photo at the end of a hard workout never works. You are exhausted. Your hands are doing weird things. Your hair has a mind of its own. Take a bad selfie. Let the AI fix the rest. The end result looks more natural because the original capture was natural.
