What This Is

Everyone's bragging about firing their $5K/month ad agency and setting up Claude to manage their ads. But nobody's actually showing you how to do it. This guide is the exact 2-tool setup: the official Meta Ads MCP plus the claude-ads skill on GitHub. Together they let Claude audit your campaigns, draft new ad sets, and manage your whole account from one prompt. Total monthly cost: 20 dollars.

Both tools are free. Tool one is built and maintained by Meta themselves. Tool two is open source on GitHub. Your only cost is Claude Pro at 20 dollars a month. That's the entire stack.

Tool 1: The Official Meta Ads MCP

What it does. Meta released their own Model Context Protocol server that plugs Claude directly into your ad account. Claude can read campaigns, edit ad sets, monitor your pixel, pull performance reports, manage product catalogs, and run signal diagnostics. Every action that changes something requires your authorization through the chat. Claude proposes, you approve.

The 4-step setup:

1. Open the Claude desktop app
2. Go to Settings, then Connectors
3. Click "Add custom connector" and paste this URL: https://mcp.facebook.com/ads
4. Click Connect and approve the Facebook OAuth popup

The MCP URL. https://mcp.facebook.com/ads is the official server URL Meta publishes for the Meta Ads AI connector. The same URL works in Claude, ChatGPT, and Perplexity.

What Claude can do with it:

Tool 2: The claude-ads Skill

What it does. The MCP gives Claude live data and execution. It does not tell Claude what's good and what's bad. The claude-ads skill on GitHub (built by Daniel Agrici, open source) turns Claude into an expert at paid ads: 250 plus audit checks across Meta, Google, TikTok, LinkedIn, Microsoft, and Apple, industry-specific campaign templates, and six parallel subagents that audit your account in seconds.

Don't skip this part. The MCP on its own can run your ads, but it won't know what's working and what isn't. With both installed you can audit campaigns, draft new ad sets, and manage your whole account from one prompt. Agency-level output, on a 20 dollar Claude plan.

Install (two commands). Open your terminal in Claude Code and run:

The One Prompt Workflow

Once both are installed, you can run your entire weekly ad workflow from a single prompt. Copy this and paste it into Claude every Monday. Replace the bracketed text with your launch or product name.

Audit my Meta account for the last 30 days. Pause anything below 1 percent CTR with
at least 50 dollars spend. Then draft 5 new ad sets for [LAUNCH/PRODUCT NAME] using
my top performing creative angle from the last 90 days. Push everything paused for
review. Summarize what changed.

What happens:

1. Claude pulls 30 days of live data via the Meta MCP
2. /ads meta runs the audit in parallel (6 subagents)
3. Claude pauses underperformers in Ads Manager (you approve each one)
4. /ads plan generates 5 new ad set drafts based on your historical winners
5. Drafts are created paused in your account, and a summary is returned to chat

Total time: about 6 minutes. The equivalent of an afternoon of agency work.

The Cost Math

The Meta Ads MCP is free. The claude-ads skill is free. Claude Pro is 20 dollars a month. That's the entire stack. Most agencies running Meta ads charge between 5 thousand and 15 thousand dollars per month. The execution speed and audit depth on this stack matches or exceeds the typical agency output.

The only thing the stack doesn't do yet is generate the creative itself. Quick Troubleshooting

• MCP won't connect? Make sure you're logged into the Facebook account that owns the ad account, then re-run the connector flow.
• Claude says it can't see your account? The MCP needs explicit per-account authorization. Re-do the OAuth and select the right one.
• /plugin install fails? Make sure Claude Code is updated. Run claude -v to get the latest version, then retry.
• Audit returns "no data"? Ask Claude to "fetch my last 30 days of campaign performance" first, then run /ads meta.
