No designer, no Photoshop. One prompt turns any blurry, low quality, or old image into a sharp 4K photo in about 30 seconds using Claude Code and Nano Banana. This lesson gives you the exact restoration prompt plus variants for portraits, products, landscapes, and old photos.
What You'll Learn
- The exact restoration prompt (copy-paste ready)
- Step-by-step Nano Banana setup
- Best prompts for portraits, products, landscapes, and old photos
What You Need
You need Claude Code with the Nano Banana skill installed. If you already set this up from a previous lesson, you're ready to go. If not, here's the quick setup:
- Install Claude Code:
npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code
- Get a Google AI Studio API key. Go to Google AI Studio and generate a free API key. This connects Claude to Nano Banana's image generation.
- Install Nano Banana. Install the Nano Banana MCP server in Claude Code. Type
/bananato verify it's working.
The 4K Restoration Prompt
Upload any low quality, blurry, or old image into Claude Code and use this prompt. Claude analyzes the image, figures out what needs fixing, and uses Nano Banana to rebuild it in ultra high definition.
Restore and enhance this image to 4K quality. Preserve the original identity, facial structure, proportions, and composition exactly. Apply ultra-realistic photo restoration with natural skin texture, accurate details, and a professional photographic look. Output in 4K with sharp but natural focus, cinematic lighting, subtle depth of field, and professional color grading. Keep it looking like a real photo shot on a high-end camera, not AI-generated.
Important: the key phrase is "preserve original identity and composition." Without this, the AI might change faces, add elements, or reinterpret the photo. You want restoration, not recreation.
Prompts For Different Image Types
Different images need different approaches. Here are the go-to prompts for the most common use cases.
Portraits:
Restore this portrait to 4K quality. Preserve the person's exact facial features, expression, and identity. Enhance with natural skin texture, sharp eye detail, subtle depth of field, and professional studio lighting. Keep it photorealistic: no smoothing, no AI look. Output should look like it was shot on a professional camera.
Product photos:
Enhance this product photo to 4K quality. Preserve the exact product shape, color, and details. Clean white background, professional studio lighting with soft shadows. Sharpen details and improve color accuracy. The output should look like a professional e-commerce product photo.
Landscapes:
Restore this landscape photo to 4K quality. Preserve the exact composition, colors, and scene. Enhance with sharp details, natural HDR, rich color grading, and cinematic depth. Output should look like a professional travel or architecture photograph.
Old photographs:
Restore this old photograph to modern 4K quality. Preserve the original composition, people, and scene exactly. Remove damage, scratches, fading, and discoloration. Reconstruct missing details naturally. Apply modern color grading while respecting the era of the original photo.
Screenshots and images with text:
Upscale this low resolution image to 4K quality. Preserve all text, UI elements, and details exactly as they appear. Sharpen edges, improve clarity, and enhance readability. Do not add, remove, or change any content in the image.
Tips For Best Results
- Always include "preserve original identity and composition." This prevents the AI from changing the photo.
- Specify what kind of image it is (portrait, product, landscape) so Claude adjusts its approach.
- For batch processing, upload multiple images in one session and ask Claude to restore all of them.
- If the first result changes something you didn't want changed, tell Claude "keep everything the same but fix [specific issue]."
- The worse the original quality, the more creative the AI has to be. Very low quality images may not restore perfectly but will still improve dramatically.
- For product images, always specify "clean white background" to get ecommerce-ready output.
Batch processing: Claude can restore multiple images in one session. Upload 10 blurry photos and ask Claude to restore all of them. Each one gets analyzed individually and restored with the right approach for that specific image type.
